Fah wanted to go on a hike today. Seemed like a reasonable request as we really had nothing on the docket. Or so I thought.
This day became full as usual.
Off to tutoring, then groceries. Home for lunch. Run child A home. Fill out paperwork for camping trip reservations. Run to bank for cash. Stop by to pay a bill.
Then we finally got to go hiking!
We went local. Just around the corner. I love living here and this is one of the reasons! It doesn’t take long to get ‘lost’. “Off the grid” even, none of us had cell service 1.2 miles in! We were surrounded by woods, salal, ferns of so many types I couldn’t even remember all their names! Oregon grape was in full glossy glory! And the gorgeous moss that only the Pacific Northwet can grow were abundant!
We hiked for an hour and a half in one of the glories of God’s backyard.
It was wet. Rain was coming down not heavy but steady. We were wet, but it’s pretty warm out there right now. So no worries and really, thirty minutes in any direction would get you to a road, or a house. So it’s pretty safe hiking for all the young ages we had join us.
By the time we headed back to the car and out, the sun was setting. We finished our hike in the twilight and under tree cover, that got pretty inky. Which was pretty cool! We came up with all kinds of new games to play while there! Next time, we’ll leave a little more wiggle room in the time area and try out a few.
We’ll be returning often to our little hiking spot. It’s plenty big enough that there is much more to explore!
