The ‘Real Thing’

Wow! What a night! U2 was spectacular! Loved it! Truly one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen! I would go again and even pay the higher cost for floor seats! Oh yes, it was that good! I am so happy and blessed to have been given the gift of going. It was amazing!

I don’t think I’ve been to such a concert where I felt God’s presence so. I’ve been to a few ‘Christian’ shows before, but U2 is the first time that I felt God in such an extraordinary way. It was special. Can I describe it to you? Not really but I can try.

For my personal experience, the show held so much and then…even more…

There were moments that it was like God was right next to me having a wonderful evening enjoying the show. There were moments that it felt as though He was upon His throne and we were worshipping Him with every inch of our soul. There were moments that you could feel His grace, love and mercy. Oh Glory! It was awe-filling!

Some of the best moments, for me, were filled with prayer.

Did Bono ask us to pray? No. But it was evident there were moments it was perfect to do so. Did Bono ask us to worship God? No, but he sure did and so did I. Openly, honestly, beautifully. It was exquisite.

This might be sounding a bit odd for a ‘rock’ concert experience, but it was my experience. I have a love for God. He is mine (and yours), I am His. When you have a relationship with Him, you have the wonderment of seeing Him in places you would not think to look. He is everywhere, literally, even at rock concerts. God likes to love on us and He’ll do it anywhere, anytime, anyplace.

Do not misunderstand, last evening was not a church service, it was a rock concert. U2 is a rock band. They just happen to follow Christ. They have songs about God, songs for God and just plain songs. Songs about relationships, heartbreak, fun, life and just stuff. All of that was there too, it was a concert for entertaining us as well as loving on God.

It is totally possible to do both and it is joyfully wonderful to experience it.

U2 360 Tour just might be my favorite concert ever. For sure, there was never a dull moment. A full evening of joy, emotion and best of all rejoicing. I mean that in the most ‘christian’ sense of the word.

Now your experience may differ from mine. If ever you get the chance to see U2, you should. It was a great concert! Theatrics, technology, sound, the band, the songs, the stage-oh it was excellent-all of it! But know there is something else there amongst it all. Something more…something real…if you see it, then that my friend, would be God, hanging out, enjoying an evening with U2 and…

…with You.
